Huawei gets South Africa optical fiber network 100G Upgrade
Econet Global subsidiary Liquid Telecom has signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei Technology, and Huawei is responsible for 100G upgrade of its fiber optic network in South Africa.
According to the plan, the first phase of the fiber network project is to upgrade the 1200-kilometer long-distance network connecting Johannesburg to Cape Town.Phase II and three projects are responsible for extending the DWDM core network in north-west and north-east Africa.
It is reported that Liquid Telecom company has also spent 507 million USD to buy the ISP Neotel company in South African to further consolidate the status of the South African telecom market, expand the scope of services.
